Production Grisly Trademark Awards Artist Bears History

Grisly is especially proud of the numerous national and international awards we received for our products.

One of the most highly desired awards in the world of teddy bears is the "Toby Award" unofficially called the "Teddy-Oscar-Award". Every year the International Teddy bear society and the American magazine "Teddy bear and Friends" choose the best bears in fourteen categories, ranging from manufactured bears to artist bears. Only five bears are nominated for each category, a selection that is equivalent to an Oscar nomination. An international jury choses what they think to be the most beautiful bears in the world. The last decision, though, rests with the collectors and readers of the magazine who vote for the winner. Since 1995 Grisly has been nominated for this renowned award in every year. In 1997 Grisly won the award with the bear "Lovley". In 2001 Grisly won with the bear "Goblin" and 2003 with the bear "Elle".

In 1996 Grisly's "Tom Sailor" was awarded the "Golden Teddy Award", the other famous award in the world of bears. GRISLY bears have been nominated in the Golden Teddy contests almost every year since then. In 2003 Grisly won again with the bear "Elle" and with the bear "Eileen".

In 1996 GRISLY also won the Toledo Glass City Award with "Speedy Freddy", designed by Daniela Lederle. In 1999 GRISLY was awarded this prize a second time, with "Marvin". The Glass City Award is given by the organizers of the "Tribute to Teddies" show in Toledo, USA. A local group, many from Good Bears of the World, help select the nominees, and members of the public who attend the show vote for the winners by ballots.
